House | Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California

Situated on a cliff overlooking San Elijo Lagoon with an expansive view to the Pacific Ocean beyond, this contemporary home evolved by using the limitations of the building envelope. What appeared once setbacks, easements, and the height restriction were laid out onto the site plan was a unique and lively floor plan configuration that spurred the imagination. Sustainable, recycled materials were used to create the basement foundation walls. The rear of the home is comprised of large, expansive windows to capture the stunning ocean views.  Concrete floors, mischievous light-fixtures, colorful resin countertops and fun, funky furniture all contribute to this home’s playful nature.
